Is FaxFree really free?

Yes, really. Up to 4 pages for $0 - you just watch a few short ads while we send it. No account, no credit card, no "free trial" that magically becomes $39/month. Want to skip the ads? Express starts at $1.49 (1–20 pages), $2.98 for 21–40 pages, or $4.47 for 41–50 pages. That's the entire pricing page.

Can I receive faxes with FaxFree?

Nope - send-only. We don't hand out inbound numbers and we don't forward faxes to your email. If receiving faxes is a regular part of your life, services like eFax or SRFax are built for that. FaxFree is for the person who needs to send a fax once every two years and would rather not sign a treaty to do it.

How do I send a fax?

Four steps:

1. Upload your document (PDF, JPG, or PNG)
2. Type in the recipient's fax number
3. Add a cover page if you want one (optional, free)
4. Pick free (with ads, up to 4 pages) or Express (from $1.49, no ads, up to 50 pages)

You'll get an email confirmation when it lands. That's the whole thing.

Do I need to create an account?

No. We don't even offer accounts. Nothing to sign up for, nothing to log into, no password to forget at 11pm the night before tax day. Upload, send, done.

Question 5

Will my fax have any ads or branding on it?

Accepted Answer

Absolutely not. Your document goes through exactly as you uploaded it - no watermarks, no logos, no "Sent from FaxFree" footer ruining your formal letterhead. The ads live on our site. Your fax stays clean.

What can I upload?

Accepted Answer

Formats: PDF, JPG, or PNG
Max file size: 10MB
Pages: up to 4 free, up to 50 on Express
Color: upload it if you want, but fax is a black-and-white art form - we'll convert to grayscale before sending

If your fax is over 50 pages, split it into multiple sends.

Question 7

Which countries can I send faxes to?

United States and Canada. International is on the roadmap, but for now this is a North America situation.

Question 8

How long does it take, and how do I know it worked?

Most faxes go through in 1–2 minutes (occasionally up to 20 if the recipient's machine is having a moment). You'll get an email confirmation with the recipient number, date, time, and page count. If it sent, you'll know.

What if the fax fails to send?

Accepted Answer

The customer always gets a refund if the fax fails. Faxes can fail for reasons that are 100% not your fault and 100% not ours - the recipient's machine is off, out of paper, busy, or someone unplugged it to charge a phone. We'll email you if there's a problem. Failed faxes aren't auto-retried, so you can fix the issue (usually a typo'd number) and resend.

What payment methods do you accept?

All major credit and debit cards through Stripe - Visa, Mastercard, Amex, Discover. Stripe handles the payment; we never see or store your card info.

Can I get a refund?

Accepted Answer

Yes. If your fax fails, you always get a refund. No questions, no arguments, no hoops to jump through. Refund requests need to come in within 7 days of the transaction.

Do you offer bulk pricing?

For high-volume senders, email business@faxfree.net and we'll work something out. For one or two faxes, $1.49 is already pretty hard to argue with.

Question 13

How do I cancel my subscription?

Plot twist - there's nothing to cancel. FaxFree doesn't do subscriptions. Never have, never will. You pay per fax, that's it. No monthly charges sneaking onto your card, no "we'll see you in 30 days" energy. If you're seeing a recurring charge that says it's from us, someone's wearing our name like a costume - email a screenshot to support@faxfree.net and we'll help you unmask them.

Is my document secure?

Yes. All transmissions use SSL/TLS encryption, payment is handled by Stripe, and we don't sell, share, or read your documents. Your email is used to send you the confirmation and that's it - no newsletters, no upsell drip campaigns, no resale to data brokers. Documents are stored temporarily for resends and automatically deleted after 30 days.

Is FaxFree HIPAA compliant?

Our infrastructure is built on SOC 2 and HIPAA-compliant providers, with AES-256 encryption in transit and at rest. However, HIPAA compliance is ultimately about how an organization handles Protected Health Information end-to-end, not just the tools it uses. We don't currently sign Business Associate Agreements (BAAs), so if you're a covered entity sending PHI, you should use a service that offers a signed BAA. For one-off personal use (e.g., sending your own medical record to your doctor), the encryption and 30-day auto-deletion give you the same technical protections you'd get from a paid HIPAA fax service.

Can I delete my document immediately?

Yes. Submit a deletion request through our Fax Document Deletion Request page with your fax reference ID, recipient number, and email. Requests are processed within 7 business days, and you'll get a confirmation email when it's done. The document itself is permanently removed; basic transaction metadata (recipient number, page count) is retained for audit purposes.

Question 17

The recipient says they didn't get my fax.

Accepted Answer

If you got a confirmation email, the fax left our hands and arrived at theirs. A few common explanations:

• The fax number was off by a digit (it happens to the best of us)
• Their machine is out of paper or the tray jammed
• It's sitting in their machine's memory waiting to be printed
• An intern is hoarding all the incoming faxes

Question 18

My upload is stuck or taking forever.

Try the classics: check your connection, make sure the file is under 10MB, try a different browser, refresh and start over. If it's still being stubborn, email support@faxfree.net and we'll take a look.

Question 19

Can I add a cover page?

Accepted Answer

Yes, and it's completely free - it doesn't count toward your page limit either. You can include your name (required), company, phone, email, and a custom message up to 500 characters. Both free and Express faxes get cover pages at no extra cost.
